Welcome to the homepage of the 2nd Amendment Movement! The 2nd Amendment Movement here at RTKABA.com was born out of an idea posted on a firearms message board. To be quite honest, I made the post as much in frustration as anything else, but it quickly grew into a real plan to start a new firearms rights group that would focus on a number of key areas, many of which have been under used or mostly ignored by other 2A rights organizations. The intent isn't and hasn't been to become a competitor with the NRA or other gun rights organizations, but rather to supplement them by doing many things none of the others do. And in our effort, it is also our goal to help bring members of all the various online forums, gun rights organizations, etc, together under one roof where we can better coordinate our activities. We need all gun owners to be on the same page, rather than scattered about in many fragmented groups that don't communicate very effectively, if at all, between each other. As an organization that isn't seen as a threat or competitor to some of these other organizations, it is our hope that they will be more willing to work with us and allow us to serve as a medium between groups. If this happens, we can communicate better. We can mobilize faster. We can better direct our activities. And we can focus the entire firearms community on specific tasks where we can speak in unison with one powerful voice, a voice that will be heard by those who wish to take away our freedoms. As of right now, we already have 42 online groups, shooting clubs, manufacturers/gun related businesses and other groups of this type who have signed on to participate in this effort. This has happened in the single week it has taken for this movement to go from an idea to an actual plan of action. These 42 various groups have already formed a strong core from which we can further expand this movement. But there are literally hundreds and likely thousands of other groups and organizations of this type out there that we need to bring in. So much work remains to be done.

Now, with our tightly connected network in place and growing rapidly, one of the key functions we can address at the tactical level is stopping anti-gun legislation using political means. If a member of Congress introduces an anti-gun bill, our ever watchful eyes will know about it immediately. At that stage, an alert will go out to everyone via our forum and email contact list. The liaisons, who will act as messengers for all of the other associated groups will also spring into action, passing along the alerts and plans of action to their respective members. This will allow us to rapidly send our first wave of phone calls, faxed messages, letters and emails toward the House and Senate leadership. This will allow us to bombard the members of the committee to which such bills will be referred with calls and letters in opposition. And finally, we can also call and write to each of our specific Senators and Representatives expressing our opposition to any such anti-2A legislation. If we can simply bring all of the people together who already belong to one or more gun related groups, organizations, clubs or online forums together, with one united voice, using clear goals and timely, closely coordinated plans, we can effectively overwhelm the Congressional switchboard and mail room with our calls and letters. And if we can do this, it will send a powerful message to many members of Congress that there are enough of us out there who have the passion, the means and the will to see to it that they are defeated and sent home during the next election, should they choose to trample on our rights, rather than uphold them.

But in addition to just using tactical means to promote our 2nd Amendment rights, we also have to think strategically to be able to win this battle decisively, finally and convincingly somewhere down the road. Direct political means will help gun owners in the short term. But we also have to focus on the steps we need to take to make sure an overwhelming majority of Americans are on our side. If that can happen, the political situation will become much more favorable toward us by default. But to accomplish t hat lofty goal, it is going to take an immense grass roots effort to make it happen. We have to find ways to get guns more positive attention by the media, or if necessary, bypass the mainstream media and take our case straight to the public. We can do that by finding radio talk show hosts or television program hosts who are sympathetic to our cause. We can do that by staging peaceful marches all across this nation. We can do that by writing letter to the editor pieces for the opinion columns in our hometown newspapers. We can do that by developing our own literature to hand out, putting it into PDF form, putting it up on the site, then having members print it out. We will then get out into our own communities and go door to door, talking to people on an individual basis, distribute our literature (just as many who worked for the Obama campaign did during the recent presidential campaign) and doing other things on the local level that promotes 2nd Amendment rights. Imagine the impact just a few thousand volunteers might have doing this all across the nation if the efforts are highly coordinated and planned. This would be the grass roots portion of the campaign. It won't cost us a massive amount of money as an organization to accomplish, as is the case with the NRA, as most of us could afford the cost of what we print out from our own computer printers. And travel costs are cheap when on foot! This is what we have to become, foot soldiers and representatives of our cause. We have to educate the soccer moms. We have to educate some of our fellow gun owners who may regard guns in a casual way and who are not as firmly in this fight as we are. And we must educate those who may have grown up without knowledge of guns or fully appreciate the importance of the 2nd Amendment. Only when the public is fully behind us will we be able to fully address the political situation. The more pro-gun voters we can create, the fewer anti-gun candidates we will see elected to office. This is in the end how we win. And these methods for achieving that end are what set our movement apart from all of the other 2nd Amendment rights organizations out there.

Please join in our effort and become an active part in your own defense. Help us enlist others to the cause. And finally, play an active role within our movement by helping us develop the plans and strategies that we as a group will use to defeat the anti-gunners. This is after all, YOUR MOVEMENT. You set the agenda. You develop the plans. You carry out the actions that will bring us victory. And remember, together we are one!
